Each one of our candles are handmade and hand-poured using only 100% soy wax. Our wicks are lead free; we only use all cotton wicks. We use only the finest fragrance & essential oils to create highly scented candles.
Soy wax is a product made of hydrogenated soybean oil; made from soy bean plants. It is an all-natural wax, free of paraffins & chemicals. Because soy wax is made from soybeans grown and harvested in the United States, it supports farmers and is a renewable resource.
Soy wax burns cleaner than paraffin wax & has a lower melting point than paraffin wax, this makes the wax burn longer.
Soy wax may have appearances that are different from paraffin wax. Soy wax may sweat during temperature change. You may also notice what seem to be wet spots on the glass jar. These behaviors are perfectly normal for soy wax. The top of your candle may have a whitish frost, again, this is perfectly normal for soy wax.
Candle Burning Tips:
Soy wax burns very clean and produces very little soot if burned properly. Follow these simple instructions to ensure proper burning.
* Because each one of our candles is handmade to order, we like to allow our candles to sit a few days before burning. This process is called "curing". Curing allows for maximum scent throw. When you recieve your product it has been cured approximately 1 week ; it is ready to light.
* When lighting your candle for the first time, do not trim your wick, as it has already been done for you.
* It is important when lighting your candle for the first time to burn candle for 1 hour per every inch of jar's diameter. For example, if the jar of your candle is 4 inches wide, you want to burn your candle at least 4 hours. This establishes the "memory" of the candle. Each time it is lit, the candle will "remember" to burn properly. If you do not do this, it may cause your candle to "core burn" and not allow for maximum scent throw.
*Allowing your candle to liquify to all edges of the jar will ensure that the candle burns properly each time it is lit.
*Not burning your candle to the edges of the jar will cause the candle to "core" down the middle therefore shortening the burn time of the candle.
*Do not use your candle lid to poke out flame as this may cause smoke to settle on the sides of jar creating a black film.
*Trim your wick 1/4 inch each time you re-light your candle.
*Burn candles on a flat surface, away from drafts and open windows.
*If your wick "mushrooms" use this as a friendly reminder it is time to trim your wick.
*The best way to extinguish your candle is to use a wick dipper, this helps reduce smoke.
*Do not place your candle in direct sunlight or the refrigerator, as it can affect the scent and color of the candle.
*If your candle is burning with black soot, the most important step is to check your wick. Make sure it is trimmed to 1/4 inch, and do not leave trimmings in the melting pool.
*Burn your candle where it can "breath". Do not burn your candle in a shelf or other tight space that will inhibit oxygen from flowing around your candle.
*If a small amount of oil appears on the top of your candle, wipe with tissue & burn as usual. This may be caused by temperature change.
*In case of wax spillage, clean up with warm water and soap.
*Discard candle when 1/4" of wax remains in container.
Soy wax is soft and creamy, it is water-soluble and cleans up easily with soap and hot water.
Candle Safety & Burning
*Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire, such as curtains. Keep at least 12" away from anything flammable.
*Keep burning candles away from drafts, vents & ceiling fans; this will prevent soot and uneven burning.
*Keep candle out of reach of children and pets.
*Keep the burn pool free of trimmings, matches, etc.
*Never use a candle as a nightlight.
*Do not touch or try to move a candle when lit as jar & wax will be hot!
*Do not burn your candle for longer than 5 hours at a time.
*Never burn a candle unattended.
